Wat Visoun

Wat Visoun (Wisunarat)

The Watermelon Stupa

Originally built in 1513,
Wat Visoun is Luang Prabang’s oldest temple
and was once home to the Prabang Buddhas.

The stupa was built in 1503.

This Buddha's hands are in the calling for rain position.
Might send this to Central Victoria.

This buddha is asking for the fighting to stop.
Can the world take a little more notice?

A corner of the temple for the old and tired buddha's.
Even when a buddha image is very old and worn away,
it is still sacred and can't be destroyed.

And finally for Heather
Today I searched for the buddha with the most peaceful face
To watch over you
