lunch near bhuj

This is the kind of place tourists are continually warned not to eat at if they don't want to get "a tummy bug":
  • shed like structure with no glass in the windows.  Falling apart.
  • cement floor
  • male workers having lunch
  • really old makeshift tables and chairs
  • possibly a different concept of clean
Well, I was doing a tour of some of the villages near Bhuj.  This was where the driver and guide pulled up for lunch.  There was no way I was going to offend them and refuse to eat here. Also the guide Mr jethi is very experienced and obviously must often takes tourists to this place.

Great system for cooking the chapatti's

The "stove"

The food was really good - rice, a lentil dahl, a veggie dish, chapati's and also a yoghurt salad.  It's as much as you can eat -  a boy comes around with pots to keep filling up your plate.  All this for the princely sum of $2.10 for the 3 of us to eat!

Mr Jethi suggested I have a look at the kitchen and I spent a most enjoyable 10 minutes being shown by the men working there how they cook.  Took photos and fun was had by all.
